Yantra Winery is dedicated to the production of fine red and white wine. It is located in the town of Byala in Bulgaria, a short distance from Rousse, in Yantra’s river valley. The winery was founded in 1970 ancillary to Rousse Winery, intended for producing white and red wine. In 1998 the winery was bought by an American company. The ownership was later transferred to Domaine Boyar when it operated only for wine preservation. In 2007 the winery was acquired by SFK-Agro Ltd. That is when Yantra Winery began producing wine again.
Our philosophy is to select grapes very carefully, thus ensuring the highest quality standards are met, and that the wines showcase the unique regional characteristics of the Danube valley. The following grape varieties are planted in this region with rich traditions in wine production: Cabernet Fran, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. The amazing balance between freshness and sugar content of our white grapes are attributed to the local soil and climate conditions. The vineyards are located on southern hills, which contributes to the accumulation of colour substance in black grapes. We are proud to say that we do not use any kind of machines during the harvest. Instead we use human labour - a process the industry considers the gentler and preferred method.
The annual production capacity of Yantra Winery is 3 million litres of wine. Our 2007 vintage amounted to 999,762 litres.
“Yantra wines exhibit a very good balance between fine fruit aroma and a rich, mouth-filling taste” – say specialists, having tasted our wines.
Yantra Winery has an area of 35,000m2 and owns 600,000m2 of vineyards. An investment priority this year is the planting of additional 1,500,000m2 with grape vines. The latter were supplied by “Huber-Reben” (Germany), a well-established producer of quality planting material.
